This 100% khadi cotton creation is woven and embroidered by hand while respecting the environment and Indian traditions in the Bengal region, in eastern India. Khadi is a material woven and spun by hand from cotton, silk or wool. In India, it is a symbol of independence and resistance to colonial domination. Gandhi encouraged handmade textile manufacturing to sideline factory-made British clothing. Following this movement, each family was able to weave at home using a wheel called “Charkha”. More than a material, khadi carries within itself the history of an entire civilization and subsequently became an art of living advocating a return to basics.

Our products are handmade by artisans, each piece is unique in its artisanal weaving and may have small imperfections which are the charm and authenticity of khadi cotton.
